La Cieneguilla Petroglyphs/ Native American Rock Art

New Mexico is rich in history and there are many sites near Santa Fe where visitors can view petroglyphs etched by the Ancient Puebloan people. Join Santa Fe Mountain Adventures and hike at La Cieneguilla Petroglyphs which is home to one of the largest collections of petroglyphs in the southwest. An archeological survey done in 1991 noted 4,400 petroglyphs in the area some of which date back to 8000 to 2000 BCE. Our guide will share his knowledge of La Cieneguilla and provide an educated interpretation of the various motifs.

Standard tour – 4 hours, including travel time. Lunch can be arranged at Ojo Santa Fe, if requested.

Otowi Peak and The Rio Grande Valley

For a moderately challenging hike near the Rio Grande, join us by Diablo Canyon and trek up to OtowiPeak. Enjoy New Mexico’s canyon lands and great views of the Rio Grande from 1,000 feet above. The hike is 4-miles roundtrip and, though it is steep in some sections, it is a rewarding adventure. Santa Fe Mountain Adventures can offer a picnic lunch at the turnaround point, depending on the weather, and our guide can share his knowledge of the Rio Grande valley and the Native American Pueblos along the river.
