The Inn of the Five graces anchors the historic Barrio Analco, a neighborhood that dates to the early 1600's, when Santa Fe was established as the capital of Nuevo Mexico. Barrio Analco means "across the water" in the language of the Tlaxcalpa Indians who came to the area in 1598 from Mexico with the Spanish. Across Old Santa Fe Trail from the hotel is the San Miguel Mission (the oldest church in the United States) and the oldest house. We are just a block from the State Capital building, two blocks from the Plaza and the Palace of the Governors and a block from the beginning of Canyon Road, a vibrant center of galleries, shops and restaurants. We are located next door to the Santa Fe Playhouse. The Five Graces is home to the historic Pink Adobe Restaurant and Dragon Bar, Rosalea Murphy's colorful watering hole and gathering place of artists and celebrities since its establishment in the 1940's. The central part of the Pink Adobe Restaurant is reputed to have been a barracks for Spanish soldiers and Indians dating to early 1600's when the San Miguel Mission Church was first being constructed.

The San Miguel Church was first completed in the 1620's, but was destroyed by fire during the Pueblo revolt of 1680. The rebuilding was completed in 1710. Near the Oldest Church is the Oldest House, dating to 1250.

Santa Fe is the oldest state capital in the United States. Long before the arrival of the Spanish there were Pueblo villages dating to as early as 1050; however, it is estimated that the villages in the immediate area were probably abandoned 200 years before the first explorations of Coronado in 1540. New Mexico became a United States Territory (present day New Mexico and Arizona) in 1846, and a state in 1912. With annexation by the U.S. there was robust trade first by way of the Santa Fe Trail and later the Santa Fe Rail Road. In the early days of New Mexico, the fresh clear air and dry climate attracted those looking for a cure for tuberculosis. Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico have long attracted artists, and continues to be a vibrant seat o culture.

Geographically, we are located in North Central New Mexico with Sangre de Cristo "Blood of Christ" Mountain Range to our east and the Jemez Mountains to our west. The Jemez Mountains were formed from volcanic eruptions going back 15 million years. At 7000 feet above sea level, we have four distinct seasons and enjoy 300 days of sunshine per year.
